FVB fully support cancer research.
Supporting NW2URC
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men in the UK, with over 40,000 being diagnosed every year. Over 250,000 men are currently living with the disease (Prostate Cancer, UK). Similarly, post-operative complications (e.g. infection and bleeding) after treating prostate cancer may result in longer hospital stays, or hospital re-admissions. The risk of cancer recurrence is also high.
The North West & North Wales Urological Research Centre (NW2URC) are a group of medics and scientists who are researching into prostate, bladder and penile cancer. The NW2URC hopes to identify novel blood tests that could predict those patients who are at highest risk of cancer recurrence, or those who are highly likely to develop post-operative complications following treatment. The research undertaken by NW2URC would potentially have a significant impact on patients and the NHS.
